You gotta love kids. They say the darnedest things and there is never a filter. For instance, sometimes my five-year-old daughter will put her hands on my tummy and say, "Mommy's going to have a baby!" Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!
No, I am not pregnant but clearly my "baby belly" hasn't quite left my life in the same way diapers and my double stroller did! I told Dr. Mehmet Oz, iVillage's Guest Editor, when I had the pleasure of interviewing him, everyone wants a flat belly. The problem is it seems impossible to get one. Don't you agree?
Enter the good doctor who has come up with his own flat belly diet, targeting what he calls "the most dangerous kind of fat" often brought on by, you guessed it, stress. "We feel stressed because we're late for a deadline. We have a bank bill due. Kids aren't behaving themselves," said Dr. Oz during a casual interview inside his office, which happens to look right out onto Radio City Music Hall. "We feel stressed so what do we do? Well, we're hardwired to react as though we're starving, so we eat whatever we have in front of us, even if we don't like it. And we eat a lot of it." Oh yes we do!
So what can we do about it and how can we get that elusive flat belly? Listen to what Dr. Oz has to say:
Of course, you can't get that flat belly without some exercise, which brings us to something else we learned while preparing for our interview with the extremely fit 52-year-old father of four. He and his family team up in something called the "Oz Family Olympics!"
Competitive clearly runs in the family! Check out what those "Oz Family Olympics" actually entail and learn a cool tip for getting the kids outside and away from those screens:
